SLEEP-WALKING AND HYPNOTISM

by Phage on Apr.07, 2010, under Reading

by Robert Anton Wilson

[1987 Natural Law book p62-68]

All that we are is the result of all that we have thought. It is founded on thought. It is created by thought.
—Gotama Buddha, The Dammapada

I stated at the beginning that this booklet concerns hypnosis and self-hypnosis; I shall now explicate that remark.

If you are arguing for racial equality with a man who keeps using the word “nigger,” you will eventually discover that you are making headway and that some barrier prevents clear communication. If you are discussing censorship laws with a lady who keeps using the word “smut,” you will experience that same sense of banging your head against a brick wall. If you attempt to reason with a Marxist, the word “bourgeoise” will eventually be invoked to banish any coherence or logic in what you have been saying.

It is a truism in social science that human beings can be defined as the language-using class of life. Buddhists, semanticists and hypnotists know that we not only use words but are also easily mesmerized by them. Hypnotists in real life seldom have to use glittering jewels or shining mirrors as they do in films; the ordinary domesticated primate can be hypnotized quite quickly and easily with words alone, spoken in proper cadence and with abundant repetition. Advertisers try to hypnotize us all the time, and judging by the fees they collect from satisfied clients, they are doing very well at it. Having used hypnosis in my psychological seminars for nearly 20 years now, I am-quite prepared to agree with G.I. Gurdjieff and Colin Wilson that most people can be said to be hypnotized most of the time, and that the professional hypnotist only switches them from their habitual trance to a different trance.

In fact, when I first started using hypnotism I was astounded that so many people went into deep trance quickly when I was only attempting to induce light trance. It was many years before I understood fully Gurdjieffs insistence that most people are sleep-walking in a deep trance state most of their lives. Now I am only astounded that many people actually come out of their trance often enough to remember, occasionally, what they intended to buy at the supermarket.

If you have to deal with neurotics regularly, you will eventually observe that most of them say aloud once or twice a week something to the effect, “They won’t give us a chance,” “You can’t win,” “The smart boys have it all sewed up,” etc. The odds are that such a neurotic is silently repeating these sentences sub-vocally — in the “interior monologue” of ordinary consciousness — many, many times a day. This form of self-hypnosis is known as a Loser Script in the language of Transactional Analysis. Read the rest

toxick magick: the psychopath’s bible

by Phage on Mar.24, 2010, under Extreme Individual Institute, Psychopath's Bible

Few people have the strength and fortitude to stare directly into the eyes of the future forms which are preparing to take our place.
~ ~ Dr. Christopher S. Hyatt

Do not take anything in this book literally! Wait, on second thought, take it all literally! — Joseph Matheny, author of Ong’s Hat the Beginning and Game Over

Psychopaths have usually been regarded by the public as either cartoon-like (Eminem, Limp Bizkit’s Fred Durst) or a threat to the prevailing social order (Quake video-game junkies). For a brief period in the mid-1990s, the fascination with suave serial killers and film characters like Dr. Hannibal Lecter suggested that the psychopath was undergoing revision, being transformed from murderous villain to flawed yet admired hero.

The Joker and Chaos Theory

by Phage on Mar.23, 2010, under Extreme Individual Institute, Psychopath's Bible

Matthew Rossi has an ingenious story concept for the Joker, moving him away from homicidal monomania towards someone who better perpetuates the randomness and chaos he supposedly personifies:

Why did the Joker steal the costume from a local college team’s mascot and wear it while robbing the Gotham Stock Exchange, and for that matter, why did the Joker break into the Gotham Stock Exchange just to steal three stockbroker’s wallets at gunpoint? Why is he paying street gangs to slash the tires of every Audi 5000 in the city?

The Joker as a practitioner of Chaos Theory would completely confound the Detective who relies on following clues to solve crimes and looks for meaning in details. Villains like the Riddler who deliberately leave clues play to Batman’s strengths, but Batman’s attempt to impose order on an intentionally random series of crimes would necessarily fail if not drive him insane.

I love the thought of Batman insisting on drawing meaning out of clues that turn out to be dead ends. He would inevitably become a pathetic conspiracy theorist, like a Tom Hanks who can find something in anything but discovers at the end of the story that there is no Da Vinci Code after all. Sure, it might be a pessimistic conclusion implying that there is no continuity in the world, but it would at least be an authentically Noir ending for that darkest of private dicks.

The built-in metaphor of randomly shuffled playing cards would also make better use of the Joker’s name than merely his being a clown whose special pathology is telling jokes that aren’t funny. (original article)

A short introduction to the 1st Earth Battalion

by Phage on Mar.20, 2010, under News, Reading

Editor’s Note: The FIRST EARTH BATTALION was called into being during the early 1980′s by TASK FORCE DELTA at the Army War College to give the Army a way to see its full potential as an instrument of the future.

The charge was “to think the unthinkable.”

This mythological force has functioned as a free service think tank to the Army ever since. As an instrument of creative thinking it has found its way into various current Army projects. Most recently, principle Academy Fellow Jim Channon, Lt. Colonel, US Army (Ret.), visually summarized the OBJECTIVE FORCE WARRIOR findings and teamed up with Army Chief of Staff Pete Schoomaker to open the mindset of future Army leaders at the School of Advanced Military Studies (SAMS) course at Command and General Staff College (CGSC). Jim also helped shape the future vision efforts of the new Secretary of the Army using his summarizing strategic graphics techniques.

Jim has led the World Business Academy fellows for three years on a quest to create the most positive future vision for the planet for the next 100 years. There is a direct correspondence between the academy’s vision and focus on the “whole planet” and the efforts of the world’s most effective action agent and institution, the United States Army.

What you’ll find here, what you won’t

by Phage on Mar.16, 2010, under Extreme Individual Institute, New EII in the news, News

It was true then, it is true now: It should be stated emphatically that the Center is intended to be Elitist in the strictest sense of the term, appealing primarily to those with the highest qualifications and capabilities in all aspects and developments of modern life. The lame, the halt, the effete and inept will not find a favorable environment for their foibles there. For just as there are athletes of the sports and the arts, so are there athletes of the spirit. The first search for excellence and perfection in their chosen field of endeavour and are so recognized, while in the latter there is similarly a search for excellence of technique and perfection of all the vehicles of the Self.

Today therefore I am adamant both to correspondents and visitors alike that to obtain the greatest benefit from Magic which is as it were a post-graduate study there should be some undergraduate work in a personal therapy. The dividends are enormous. -Regardie

These principles guide the EII as much as they guided Reagrdie in the Golden Dawn. If you come to us with baggage, you will never get off the porch. If you’re looking for an “occult order”, conspiranoia commiseration,  relief from your alien implants or government mind control technology, a crying shoulder or a guru, go elsewhere. You will not get past the door.

We do not allow those who are running ‘victim scripts’ into our group, we do not encourage the running of those scripts among our members, nor do we tolerate those who enable or exploit said scripts in others.

If on the other hand, you are a individual who is looking for a group of other individuals to help you fully realize your potential, you have landed in the right port.

To be considered

Note: If you are under 18 years, you may contact us again when you are legally able to think for yourself. Until then, you’ve been issued some parents, teachers, and shepherds to show you the “right way to behave.”

Write an autobiography from the 3rd person perspective: brutal honesty, detailed, from birth through today.

Application does not guarantee acceptance. Pictures, autobiographies, and any future clubhouse contributions become the property of the EII.

Above all know that what will be required of you is “quid pro quo” in all things.

Robert Anton Wilson: The Lost Studio Session and other remasters

by Phage on Jan.13, 2010, under News

Just got this in the mail:

Robert Anton Wilson: The Lost Studio SessionRobert Anton Wilson: The Lost Studio Session
By Robert Anton Wilson
and Joseph Matheny

First recorded in Chicago in 1994, this previously unreleased audio session with the renowned Robert Anton Wilson has been stored away for fifteen years…and almost lost entirely. If Bob knew how many synchronicities surround the rediscovery and release of this “lost” studio session, he would be chuckling in that half jolly, half mischievous way of his. If you believe in any kind of afterlife, maybe you can imagine him laughing right now. I like that image: Bob the laughing Buddha, still having one over on us from the great beyond. For all you remixers out there: The RAW track “Namu Amida Buddha” is licensed to allow remixes, distribution, etc: http://tinyurl.com/2zpg8y You may download this track below.

Available from Original Falcon

Foreword to ‘Ah Pook is Here’

by Phage on Dec.31, 2009, under Ah Pook

For the New Year

The Mayan codices are undoubtedly books of the dead; that is to say, directions for time travel. If you see reincarnation as a fact then the question arises: how does orient oneself with regard to future lives? Consider death as a dangerous journey in which all past mistakes will count against you. If you are not orienting yourself on sound factual data, you will not arrive at your destination, or in some cases you may arrive in fragments. What basic principles can be set forth? Perhaps the most important is relaxed alertness, and this is the point of the martial arts and other systems of spiritual training – to inculcate a psychic and physical stance of alert passivity and focussed attention. Suspicion, fear, self-assertion, rigid preconceptions of right and wrong, shrinking and flinching from what may seem monstrous in human terms – such attitudes of mind and body are disastrous. See yourself as the pilot of an elaborate spacecraft in unfamiliar territory. If you freeze, tense up, refuse to look at what is in front of you, you will crack up the ship. On the other hand, credulity and uncritical receptivity are almost as dangerous.
