For the New Year

The Mayan codices are undoubtedly books of the dead; that is to say, directions for time travel. Perhaps the most important is relaxed alertness, and this is the point of the martial arts and other systems of spiritual training – to inculcate a psychic and physical stance of alert passivity and focussed attention. Suspicion, fear, self-assertion, rigid preconceptions of right and wrong, shrinking and flinching from what may seem monstrous in human terms – such attitudes of mind and body are disastrous. See yourself as the pilot of an elaborate spacecraft in unfamiliar territory. If you freeze, tense up, refuse to look at what is in front of you, you will crack up the ship. On the other hand, credulity and uncritical receptivity are almost as dangerous.

I know not what clever character posted the first sentence, but I will admit that it has some truth to it. Grammatical clumsiness notwithstanding, the next rendezvous around the sun holds immense potential. FuckYourBrain has gone live in the early stages of its development. They have chosen to operate underground and close to the vest and have pledged to launch Cacophony Society/Fight Club style hijinks in the greater LA area as well as pursuing Radical Undoing. At Esozone there seemed to be a goodly deal of interest in Dr. Hyatt’s ideas and methods. To that end, me, my partner Rose, and a friend of mine here in the city are discussing starting a Hyatt Method working group, under the auspices of the New Extreme Individual Institute. The group would work collectively to develop a curriculum, start with the very basic stuff, meet once or twice a week, and have almost the entire repository of Dr. Hyatt’s Tantric work at their disposal. I would be very interested in working further with anyone who made it to Esozone, or anyone else engaged in Hyatt Work here in Portland. Those engaged in the Gurdjieff work are also encouraged to come and share their perspective.
